Freecom DVB-T USB Stick

Vista installation Guide here

Disclaimer – Read this at your own risk. Implement any of the following advice entirely at your own risk. This could all be a lot of nonsense which might ruin your DVB-T stick, your data and your life generally – but it might just help you with your problem!..

Credit where Credit's Due

First - thanks to all the users of the Freecom Forum - particularly the following individuals, whose contributions have been heavily leaned on in developing these help pages:

- Amarok80, Mr bah434x, MarkyMark, Nat, SgtFox, Toptecky, KingJ, Derek Torres, Robwatton, Bubblemanx

And a host of others....

The idea of these self-help pages is to try to capture the knowledge which develops within the Forum, as questions are asked, solutions found and new ideas offered. If we do that effectively, those who have problems with their Freecom USB DVB-T stick should be able to come here and - hopefully - find the answer. We'll see.

This is "work-in-progress" so, if you find something which does not work for you, or if you find a new way of doing, please let us know so we can improve the quality of advice for others. If you get REALLY chuffed 'cos this site helps you sort your own problem, please let us know - you can post to the Freecom Forum (www.freecom.com) with "techie" in the title and I'll get your comments.

Thinking of Buying a Stick?

If you're thinking of buying one of these sticks, go here for a short review and my installation notes.

Having problems with your DVB-T Stick?

Note that, there are differences between the digital only stick and the hybrid analogue and digital stick. At the moment this site deals only with the former.

Starting point for those having difficulties- have you REALLY read the manual to see what you are supposed to do? If not, go here. It's not entirely up-to-date but it may help. And secondly, have you checked the Freecom FAQ to see if your problem is dealt with? Go here for the FAQ.

Assuming you've checked both these things, what's your Operating System (apologies to Mac and Linux users - we ain't got that far yet).

Windows XP - click here

Windows Vista - click here

Other Windows users - sorry but, you might get things working under Windows 2000 if you try hard enough but you're unlikely to succeed with anything less than that. At present we offer only advice on XP and Vista.

If you want to know what SHOULD happen, once you've loaded the drivers and multimedia programme - scanning for channels - , click here
