Freecom External Drives

Introduction

In these pages, I'm attempting to cover as much as possible about how to "sort" a malfunctioning drive. It's a complicated topic when you try to cater for all the possible variations which can result in malfunctions and - regrettably - I simply don't have the time to develop an "all singing all dancing" website with a quality search facility to help you locate the exact bit of info you need - so if you can't find what you are looking for, sorry but you can either keep looking - or post a message on the Freecom Forum, seeking help for your particular problem.

File Systems, (NTFS & FAT32), Backups to Netowork Drives, the "Where are my missing Gigabytes" problem and the "FAT32 - 4GB limitation" problem

I've added a page dealing with these matters, as they crop up fairly frequently on the Freecom Forum. Go here for the info.

These Pages

These pages only deal with USB or ethernet-connected external drives. If your problem is with:

(1) A drive which is brand-new but does not work first time you connect it to your PC, please go here.

(2) A drive which used to work on your PC but which one day stopped working, please go here.

Data Recovery

I recommend you read whichever of the previous options is relevant in your case. However, if you want to skip to the section about recovery of data from a malfunctioning drive, go here.
